Mini Heeler Rescue Operation

Over 70 Dogs Saved

Friday March 20, 2025, Freddie B's Furry Friends Rescue 501c3 non-profit took on what was supposed to be ONLY a transport for a rescue out of Montana of about 20-25 mini Heelers from a breeder seeking help...well, it unexpectedly turned out to be much more than that...

To summarize the end result of Freddie B's Furry Friends Rescue first major rescue operation, we rescued over 70 sweet souls from a hoarding situation in the semi-local area and with the help of several other rescues that came to our aid upon request, placed them in loving foster homes pending them being put up for adoption. We also unfortunately removed three adult deceased dogs killed in dogs fights prior to our arrival and three deceased newborn puppies - all of which are at my home pending them being put to rest in my Memorial garden.

There were so many individuals that stepped up to assist upon being asked; too many to name, but here are just a few of the main ones:

A concerned resident living in the area first contacted me via Facebook Messenger asking if I could help, which started this entire chain of events.

Kendra of Heeling Hearts rescue, Montana who was the first rescue the breeder contacted for help, which started it all - she took five adults, several nursing mothers, and about 15 nursing newborn puppies.

Shelby and her team at The Last Chance Ranch, LCR who stepped up to assist in processing the numerous dogs that we rescued on the first day and graciously allowed me to transfer over 15 of the most unsocialized dogs into her care.

Just Ducky and Friends who stepped up to assist Shelby and her team with the dogs transferred to them, along with graciously referring some wonderful individuals to foster for us.

SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. who graciously allowed us to use their space to process the dogs after rescue and to Shaylee of Spokanimal who tirelessly assisted us with vaccinations on the last batch of rescued dogs.

To my "boots on the ground" team members Brenda Wright, Janice Martindale-Maynard, Ayla Brown, Amy Hollenbeck Baribault & her husband Guy, Margo Allen, and Nancy Drinkard.

I would like to give an extra special thank you to these specific team members of ours:

Nancy Drinkard for photographing and catalog every single dog we rescued (over 70), by estimated age, gender, altering status (if known), markings, and temperament, disposition (i.e. rescue to rescue transfer or by the name of the foster who the dog was placed within our rescue - all itemized and logged on a spreadsheet she tirelessly developed herself (numerous hours she put into this)

Amy Baribault, our rescue Foster coordinator, for sifting through numerous Foster applications to find the most fitting ones for the dogs in our care, which is over 20.

Yvonne Leach, one of our board members, who so very much wanted to be here "boots on the ground" to assist, but was out of town and instead provided much valuable assistance behind the scenes coordinating various aspects of the during and post operation activities and tasks.

Ayla Brown, our rescue photographer/videographer who was "boots on the ground" on most of the rescue days documenting everything via videos and photos, both inside and outside, to later be put in a documentary style presentation on our YouTube channel that's in development - one that will make you sad, evoke emotion, to bring awareness, ect. - it will be a very moving and shocking and sad documentary to bring awareness to this situation as this is just one of numerous situations nearly identical to this across the nation.

And last but not least: to every one of our Fosters who stepped up to take one of these sweet Souls into their loving care; and in some cases, two, and in another case a mama and her two newborns, and another case, three puppies. Each and every one of you played a vital and important role in this rescue operation and are as equally responsible for saving these dog's lives and seeing them on to their forever homes.
